This envelope is called “Pochibukuro” in Japan. Pochibukuro is for the thing putting “Otoshidama” into. Otoshidama is a New Year’s gift (usually money) given to children by parents and close relatives. The money is usually placed in a small envelope (Pochibukuro) before it is given.
